In moving into their 18C home at Honister House, Keswick, in the autumn of 2006, Susie and John Stakes were keen to develop its excellent reputation in providing breakfasts of the highest quality and were delighted to be accredited with AA 4 Star status within the first month of opening. This was closely followed by the Vegetarian Society Food and Drink Guild recognition.



All food is locally sourced, organic and Fairtrade wherever possible, which helped them gain the status of AA “best breakfast” providers.Their delicious breakfast menu has been extended to include such intriguing dishes as " The Borrowdale Round",The Honister Scramble" and "Decadence". Susie also holds a food safety in catering certificate from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.



Honister House hosts a wealth of interesting features (e.g. timber beams/wood burning stoves), complimented by paintings and photographs by local artists. Its distinctive “cheese wedge” shape also houses a cosy beamed shop selling hand-made locally inspired jewellery. Step outside and all Keswick’s many attractions are on the doorstep. Step a little further and many of Borrowdale's magnificent walks can be can be undertaken straight from our front door. The lake and Borrowdale valley are arguably the most accessible parts of the Lake District for visitors of all kinds.
