Café Maitreya has been widely recognised as the UK’s best vegetarian restaurant by the Which Good Food Guide, the Observer Food Magazine and the Vegetarian Society. It has a reputation for high quality, modern and imaginative food that’s hard to beat. The menu changes regularly and uses seasonal ingredients, many local and organic or wild, and everything is prepared in the small open plan kitchen. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere warming and meals are served with a big slice of loving kindness. A typical meal might start with samphire beignet, followed by pistachio and gruyere tortellini with fresh cherry and frangipane tartelette to finish. (Vegan and gluten free meals are clearly signed.)
Café Maitreya is in Bristol’s exotic St Mark’s Road and is only open in the evenings: Tuesdays to Saturdays from 6.45pm with last orders at 9.45pm. For further information: telephone 0117 9510100 or visit www.cafemaitreya.co.uk.
